Lore Olympus Is Getting A Show And So Might Your Other Favorite Webtoons

The popularity of Webtoon has skyrocketed in recent years. Thousands of creators upload their original digital comics on the site and it’s attracted many dedicated readers. Lore Olympus is one of the most popular series on the site and has held the number one spot under Top Series for a very long time.

The popularity of Lore Olympus and Webtoon comics as a whole has attracted the attention of many. It’s just been announced that Lore Olympus will be adapted into an animated series. On top of that, Webtoon has also partnered with Crunchyroll and will presumably be creating more animated adaptions of everyone’s favorite web series!

About The Series, Lore Olympus

Rachel Smythe’s Lore Olympus is self-described as an immersive retelling of the classic story, The Taking of Persephone, in a way that hasn’t been done before.

While the series does take a lot from the source material, it puts a very modern spin on the tale. At the core of it all, however, it centers around how Persephone became the queen of the underworld.

The series updates weekly and draws in more than one million hits consistently for the past few updates

According to Deadline, The Jim Henson Company plans to develop an animated series for a young adult audience.

Ashley Griffis, executive director of television for the company said that they “love stories that inspire, both artistically and intellectually, and Webtoon’s Lore Olympus does both.”

Everything from the character design and the female perspective makes this have great potential as a show according to Griffis.

At this moment it isn’t clear how much input Smythe will have in the adaptation or how closely it plans to follow the webtoon. We also don’t know if there’ll be any shifts in art style or any other vital information.

We Might Be Getting More

Even more exciting is the possibility that Lore Olympus won’t be the only series getting animated. Crunchyroll and Webtoon announced their partnership on Twitter a few days ago.

They asked what series fans would like to see animated in the future. In the picture used on the announcement, there are characters from some of the most popular webtoons on their platform.

We can only guess but it’s possible that one of these series could be next up on the list. On the other hand, it would be great for a small-time creator to get such a huge opportunity as well.
